Brief: girls’ water polo falls to Leland in second round of CCS

Palo Alto High School girls’ water polo fell to Leland High School 12-6 on Saturday, Nov. 12 in the second round of the Central Coast Section playoffs.

Paly’s defense was no match for Leland’s speed on the counter attack. In just the first quarter Paly trailed 5-1; their only goal was scored by Shannon Scheel (‘12).

Things didn’t get better for the team in the second half. Leland anticipated most of the Lady Vikes’ moves, holding them to a meager five goals in that half.

This was the last game of the season for the Vikings. The team will graduate four seniors and will return nine players, all in hopes of an even better season next year.
