Girls’ lacrosse pummels Oak Ridge in their fourth game, 15-3

This morning, Palo Alto’s girls’ lacrosse dominated Oak Ridge with a final score of 15-3.

The first goal of the game was scored by Simone Buteau (’13) which was quickly followed by three consecutive goals scored by midfielder Kristen Destefano (’14). Then, Emily Hain (’13) scored another goal to bring the score to 5-0. Oak Ridge responded with two goals, however Paly quickly countere with four goals scored by Destefano, Julia Farino (’13), Buteau and another by Farino. The first half ended with the Vikings leading 9-2.

“Every single goal we had was scored as a team,” says Destefano. “There was always an assist, there was never just a one run straight for the goal.”

Oak Ridge started strong in the second half with a goal within the first minute, which would be their last of the game.  Paly then played solid defense and quickly pulled away with six goals. Annemarie Drez (’14) scored the first of the six followed by a goal from Nina Kelty (’13). Soon after Drez scored her second goal of the game followed by goals from Anna Dairaghi (’13), Liana Pickrell (’15) and Kelty, bringing the final score of 15-3.

“I’m very proud of my team’s performance,” says coach Jamie Nesbitt. “I think we came out and played hard whistle to whistle and I’m happy we didn’t let up our level of play.”

The Lady Vikes will next take the field on Thursday March 7th at 4pm against Menlo Atherton.
