Paly girls tennis defeats Fremont 5-2

Paly girls tennis defeated Fremont 5-2 Thursday, September 25th at home.

Senior captain Madeline Lee (`15)  commented on the match and areas she worked on today.

“I played well today and the team we had today wasn’t that much of a challenge so I really wanted to focus on consistency in my level of play,” Lee said.

Lee and her partner Jacki Cai (`15)  played doubles first and won both of their sets 6-0.

The second doubles team, Halle Biorn (`16) and Meredith Cummings (`17), won its first set 6-1 and the second set 6-0.

The Vikings’ third doubles team, Sarah Tayeri and Claire Priestliey,  won 6-0.

The Vikings also had success in their singles matches.

Avanika Narayan (`17) won her both of her two sets 6-0 and Kelsey Wang (`16) won both her sets the first one 6-2 and the second one 6-3.

Malinh Trong (`17) won her second set 7-5 but lost her first and third sets to Fremont.

Emma Cockerell (`17) also lost her match to Fremont after losing her first set 6-3, winning her second set 6-2, but then losing her third set 13-11.

Priestliey commented on her match and level of play.

“I think I played pretty well especially because we won. I do think they weren’t a very tough team, so I didn’t feel challenged,” Priestliey said.

The Vikings next game is Tuesday, September 30th against Santa Clara at Peterson Middle School.
