Fantasy Football: Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Eric Maser sets new Fantasy Football Record

Eric Maser (‘17), known as the transformer, has been a consistent fantasy bust.  Maser hit us with a transformation Tuesday sophomore year, going from the pillsbury doughboy to a Calvin Klein model.  His streak from David to Goliath comes to an end in his fantasy this past week.  His team put up a mere 40 points this weak, breaking an old league record.  Maser, we wish you the best of luck this year.

Matchups from Week

Jordan Schilling beats Ben Cleasby 107-90

Ethan Stern beats Eric Maser 94-40

Dillon Scheel beats Jamie Cullen 111-103

Love/Hate List

Steven Marinkovich

Love: Julio Jones – The #1 wide receiver this season has been a little quieter lately, only scoring one touchdown in the last four weeks. I predict that he will break this trend and have a huge week against the poor Buccaneers’ defense. I could see him grabbing two touchdowns with over 100 yards.

Hate: Mike Evans – An overall disappointment this season, I don’t see Evans busting out quite yet this season. With a tough road matchup in Atlanta on Sunday morning, Evans will continue to struggle. Despite having his best game of the year last week, don’t expect that to continue through this weekend.

Ben Cleasby

Love: Doug Martin – He’s back. Doug “The Muscle Hamster” Martin has torn it up the past three weeks storming the field last week for 136 yards on the ground and 35 through the air. Going up against an Atlanta defense who has allowed many points to other backs, look for The Hamster to take to his hamster ball and roll all over them.

Hate: Dion Lewis – He’s been hurt, he’s playing a revived Miami defense, and the Patriots love to throw the ball. Lewis missed last week due to an abdominal injury and still isn’t 100% as of now he could even miss this week. The once horrible Miami defense has come alive in the wake of newly hired head coach, Dan Campbell, and looks to remain as a solid defense. Lastly, even if Lewis returns it doesn’t matter. The Patriots throw the ball and just keep throwing it, giving Legarrette Blount only 3 carries last week. Don’t look for Lewis to save your team this week.

Ethan Stern

Love: Deandre Hopkins – Week 7 was a down week for Hopkins, and this made him angry. This anger within will allow him to put the team on his back. I forecast a 25 plus.

Hate: Brandon Marshall – RRRAAAIIIDDERRRSS! The nation will shut this man down. I forecast a below par four for week 8.

Peter Snodgrass

Love:  Cam Newton– As long as he does the DAB dance, he will be churning out a huge performance.

Hate:  T.Y. Hilton– As much as I love this man, as a guru I must throw aside my love for him and spit fire for my followers. This week, I recognize that T.Y. is up against the best corner through the first seven games in the league, Josh Norman. Do not look for another huge game from Hilton.

Jamie Cullen

Love: Antonio Brown- With Ben Roethlisberger expected back in action this week, Antonio Brown can finally start being good at football again.

Hate: Eddie Lacy- Lacy has been struggling recently, and backup James Starks has taken advantage and looked impressive with the carries he has gotten. With Starks taking away carries and a tough matchup with the Broncos, expect Lacy to continue to struggle.

Deep Sleeper of the Week

Christine Michael – Despite Darren McFadden taking the reigns in Joseph Randle’s absence last week, Michael looked dynamic in his few cameos. With McFadden destined to get hurt because, well, he’s Darren McFadden, Michael could have a solid game this weekend.

Bold Prediction of the Week – Greg Olsen to put up 20+ fantasy points

Olsen has had a very good season thus far and a matchup with the Colts can help him even more.  The Colts defense is pretty awful and Greg Olsen can easily put up 20 points.
