For their first match of the 2017 season, Paly dominated Aragon by winning six out of the seven matches played. The lineup for singles was Antony Georgiadis (‘19) playing Aragon’s number one player, Noah Galper (‘17) playing second, Hunter North (‘18) playing third and Sean Young (‘17) playing fourth.

Galper defeated his opponent 7-6 in the first set and 6-3 in the second. North easily won his match with scores of 6-1 and 6-3 in the two sets. Young won his match with a score of 6-0 in the first set and 6-4 in the second. Georgiadis won his first set 6-3, however, lost the second set 1-6 and lost the tiebreaker 6-10.

Every doubles team was able to defeat their opponent. Adam Love (‘19) and Nathan Ellisen (‘19) played Aragon’s number one doubles team and beat them 6-2 in the first set and 7-6 in the second. Number two doubles were Jerry Hong (‘17) and Dylan Polley (‘17). They lost the first set 3-6, however, turned it around by winning the second set 6-1 and winning the tiebreaker 10-3. Henry Badger (‘17) and Kevin Chen (‘17) played Aragon’s third doubles team. They won the first set 6-2 and also won the second set 6-2.

Team captain, Galper, commented on his team’s performance in their first match of the season.

“I think we played well. Our number one for the match, he had a tough opponent, but besides that we won everything pretty decisively,” Galper said.

Looking ahead, Chen commented on how he thinks his team will do this season.

“I think our team will perform white well for this season. We are in an incredibly tough league this year but hoping to push through this season. Our team looks incredibly promising with start players in every grade,” Chen said.

The team has two more matches before their tournament in Fresno on March 3rd and 4th.
