Girls’ cross-country places second at league preview meet
Nora Rosati warms up. She finished the 2.95 mile course in 20:37.2.
The Palo Alto high school girls’ cross-country team finished in second place at the league preview meet at Crystal Springs on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The race was divided up by grade, so the members of the varsity team did not all run together. The freshman and sophomores won their race, and the juniors and seniors.
Overall, these scores were good for a second place overall finish behind Monte Vista High School.
Nora Rosati (‘13), who ran in the junior race, lamented the fact that the entire team did not get to run together.
“It was kind of a bummer because we didn’t have our whole varsity team together,” she said. “We were all split up.”
Coach Paul Jones was impressed with the team performance, and with the races run by Katie Foug (‘15) and Chika Kasahara (‘13), but was hesitant to predict a league victory this year.
“Mountain View is still a good team,” he said.
The team’s next test comes next Saturday morning at Cuesta College.
“We are looking forward to Cal Poly,” Rosati said.
