Live Blog: Volleyball takes on Menlo-Atherton in NorCal Finals

Game One:

(7:00 p.m.) Starting off with a Menlo-Atherton serve, the Lady Vikes gave up the first point of the game to the Lady Bears. However, the Lady Vikes quickly found their rhythm and put away five points in a row currently holding Menlo-Atheron 6-2.

(7:11 p.m.) Kimmy Whitson (’12) and Melanie Wade (’12) successfully block the Bears at the net while Wade put away a kill and the Lady Vikes take the lead 9-3. Wade quickly had two more kills while Maddie Kuppe (’12) and Becca Raffael (’14) blocked the next offensive attempt by the Lady Bears. Several unforced errors have led the Lady Bears to gain offensive momentum at 13-9 Paly, but a hitting error by Menlo-Ahterton outside hitter and an ace by Whitson put the Lady Vikes up 15-9.

(7:23 p.m.) Kuppe hits a roll shot from back row to put the Lady Vikes up 23-17.

(7:26 p.m.) Whitson tipped the ball short middle court to win the first game of the match, 25-17. The Lady Vikes now prepare for the second game.

Game Two:

(7:41 p.m.)  The Lady Vikes begin the second match with a 8-2 lead over the Lady Bears.

(7:47 p.m.) The Lady Vikes call a timeout as they take an 11-point lead with a score of 14-3.

(7:50 p.m.) Paly leads 19-4 after Kuppe hits a kill short to the center of the court.

Paly setter Kimmy Whitson ('12) and middle blocker Melanie Wade ('12) block Menlo-Atherton offense in the second game of the Division I Norcal finals game at home tonight. Paly won the first two games of the match 25-17 and 25-8.

Game Three:

(8:04 p.m.) The Lady Vikes lead 5-4 in the third game of the match. Menlo-Atherton gains serving possession after an unforced defensive error by Paly. After a kill by Raffel, and a block by Whitson, the Lady Vikes are up 7-4.

(8:07 p.m.) Paly is up 8-6 after the Lady Bears hit a ball out long.

(8:12 p.m.) After back-and-forth rallying, the Lady Vikes lead 17-9. After Wade produced a kill deep back for Paly, the Lady Bears were called for a net violation.

(8:14 p.m.) Raffel hits a tip shot middle to put the Lady Vikes up 19-11.

(8:16 p.m.) It’s a time out as the Lady Vikes lead. Kuppe got a kill deep for Paly to put then at 20-12.

(8:18 p.m.) The Lady Bears gained two kills off of Paly defense to put the score at 20-14 Paly.

(8:20 p.m.) Paly wins 25-15 after the Lady Bears hit a long shot out. The Lady Vikes will continue on in their season this Saturday in the Division I State Championship.
