Tonight the Vikes will take on the Bellarmine Bells (11-1, 7-0) at 8:00 p.m. at San Jose City College for the CCS Championship.
Coming off a strong 38-29 win over Saint Francis last Friday night, the Vikings (10-2, 6-1) look to reciprocate the success of last year, in which they won both CCS Open Division and State Division I crowns.
Bellarmine come into the game ranked eighth in California and 59th in the nation according to MaxPreps. The Bells are led by quarterback Travis McHugh (’12), the teams’ leader in nearly all statistical categories. Bellarmine smashed Terra Nova 58-12 and Archbishop Mitty 29-0 en route to the championship game.
“Playing Bellarmine has been a rivalry the past few years because we keep meeting in the playoffs,” linebacker Brennan Miller (’12) said. “They are a strong team but we’ve worked hard all week and I think we have a good game plan on both sides of the ball.”
