Brief: Girls’ cross country season ends at CCS

Brief: Girls cross country season ends at CCS

Girls’ cross country placed ninth out of 19 teams in CCS today at Crystal Springs. Neither the team nor any runners qualified for  the state meet.

“It was a disappointing race,” Katie Foug (’15) said.

A few of the runners were still recovering from  health issues. Bryn Carlson (’16) was sick with whooping this past week, Alys Olmstead (’16) was sick this past week as well and Foug did not train this week because of a strained hamstring.

“A couple of the other girls have been dealing with injuries for the season, so going in to the race people were not in their best health,” Foug said.

Out of 141 runners, Carlson placed 28th with a time of 19:47, and was the first of the seven Vikings to finish. Foug came in close behind, placing 32nd with a time of 19:58. With Audrey DeBruine (’14) as the only CCS runner graduating, the team hopes to improve next season.

“I think we are all looking forward to the next season to redeem ourselves,” Foug said.
