The Paly boys’ water polo team took down Monta Vista comfortably by the score of 15-3.

The game started out fast, the Vikings with the edge, getting the score to 4-1 in their favor early on.

After their strong start, the Vikings faced an onslaught of Monta Vista shots with Ben Rapperport (’19) making three very tough saves on three possessions in a row.

After not allowing Monta Vista to score in those three possessions, the Vikings were able to move on and dominate the rest of the first half with a goal from Eric Maser (’17) giving them a 8-1 as they went into halftime.

“Compared to the last time we play them [Monta Vista] where it was a close game, it was nice to come out and beat them by double digits. I think it’s a good start to the second half of our season,” Maser said.

Maser opened up the second half with another goal and the team kept chugging along from there, ending the third quarter with a 10-3 lead.

The final quarter was a continuation of the same play from the Vikings, outscoring Monta Vista five to nothing and finishing off the game with a 15-3 victory.

“I think we did extremely well. I would probably chalk this up as our best game of the season so far,” head coach Aaron Johnson said.

The boys’ water polo team will look to build on this win when they play next Tuesday against rivals Gunn
