Few Paly teams in recent memory with a winning culture as dominant as Girls golf. They won the state championship three years ago. They finished second last year. They have continued to win the league year after year. They look to carry the torch once again with a strong group of returning players and new editions into the top six.

Without the graduated seniors from last year who all left for collegiate golf, returning Seniors Allyson Lee and Meigan Lew alongside Junior Alexa Pineda look to continue their winning tradition from last year into this season.

“For this season I want to do the best that I possibly can, in matches and for the team. I hope that we can win a few matches to keep up with our strong history,” Pineda said. “I think that it’s possible for us to succeed; there are a lot of hardworking girls on the team that I’ve seen both in practice and on the course.”

The girls begin their season with a scrimmage against Milpitas at Bay View, followed by a tournament, and league matches following soon after. Their league competitors include Lynbrook, Santa Clara, Monta Vista, Saratoga, Gunn, and Los Altos.

“I’m looking forward to competing against Los Altos since they just moved into our league,” Pineda said. “I know some strong players on the team so I think it’ll be fun to face them.”

Their goals from last year still stand for this upcoming season, as they hope to finish at the top of CCS and to stay undefeated in league play. With a team as dominant as this one, Pineda isn’t shooting for anything less, but she also wants to keep the positive team dynamic.

“I just want the team to build a strong and good relationship with each other.”
