On Saturday, the Paly boys water polo teams defeated Harker 11-10 in overtime in SCVAL De Anza league finals.

“Honestly, it was really surreal,” senior Ivan Ijzerman said. “I’m really proud of how the boys played. Not just that game, but the whole season.”

This is the second league championship for this team in a row, and Coach Bob Greene (who began coaching at Paly in 2021) has won both of the championships since he arrived.

Now, the Vikes may be entering into the open division of CCS, a league above Division 1, where they normally are seeded. In this division they may face tougher opponents, but the boys are excited to rise to the challenge.

“We’re hoping to do our best,” Ijzerman said. “We want to show big name teams that we’re here to play.”
