Girls golf wrapped their season up last week, finishing sixth at the CCS playoff tournament, missing the cut to go to states. This past season, they did not reach the goals they set at the beginning of the season as they came up short.

They began their season with a strong showing in a tournament, before losing their first match of the season to the eventual league champions, Lynbrook.

“The result wasn’t ideal, but Lynbrook looks really strong this season,” Anika Nair (‘25) said. “Losing by seven means we can still challenge them.”

The result indeed did not phase them, as they went on to dominate their league, showing their previous winning culture as they won five of their next six matches, only losing one match to Los Altos. They then went to rematch Lynbrook, this time at Lynbrook’s home course, ultimately going winless against them. They did not let that phase them however, as they went on to get revenge against Los Altos, beating them by four strokes.

They took this momentum from the revenge victory with them into their league playoffs, as they had a strong showing, finishing second in the league tournament behind Lynbrook. Their second place finish automatically qualified them for CCS playoffs, a goal they had since the beginning of the season.

They had a strong showing but just eventually shot too high as they did not make the state playoffs. Overall, they still had an amazing season, showing why girls golf at Paly is one of the best programs around here.

“I’m hoping that next year our team continues to diligently practice and improve, as well as foster a supportive and closely-knit community,” senior Allyson Lee said. “I’ve made a lot of amazing memories being on the team; it’s something I’m definitely going to miss a lot next year.”
