The Paly football team beat Stevenson 38-18 at Palo Alto High School on Friday night in the Division V CCS quarterfinals.

The offense capitalized on many explosive plays, allowing Paly to build a massive lead early.

A long touchdown run by running back Jack Newman (‘23) in the second quarter extended the lead to 24-0.

“We knew a lot was on the line so we came out with everything we had,” safety Rocky Leitch (‘23) said.

Quarterback Declan Packer (“24) was terrific, making throws in the pocket, as well as using his legs to extend drives.

Stevenson cut the lead to 12 early in the third, but wide receiver Kai Bussey (‘23) scored on a long touchdown, destroying any hope Stevenson had left.

Paly will carry their positive momentum into the semifinals of Division V CCS, where they will take on Seaside High School next Friday at home.

“[We’re] very excited about the win and plan to carry the momentum we have for our next opponents,” Leitch said. “We will lock in and get to work this week in order to do so.”
