The Paly football team beat Seaside 34-6 at Palo Alto High School on Friday night in the Division V CCS semifinals.

Paly executed at a high level both offensively and defensively right from the start, allowing Paly to capture a 13-0 advantage going into halftime.

Linebacker Luke Young (‘23) flew all over the field with six tackles in the first half, helping the defense pitch a shutout going into the locker room.

“We got our momentum going and capitalized on their mistakes,” quarterback Declan Packer (‘24) said.

A long run by running back Jack Newman (‘23), and an elusive touchdown catch by wide receiver Jason Auzenne (‘24), the lead mounted to 20 points.

The Vikings weren’t done yet. Later on, two way captain Vainga Mahe (‘23), capitalized on an electric “scoop and score,” recovering a fumble and running it back for a touchdown.

After a rough start to the season, Paly has found their groove. They’ve won four games in a row, including two straight playoff games, and will face Monterey High School in the Division V CCS finals.

“We are going to prepare for [Monterey], and we will dominate when we play them,” Packer said.
