The Palo Alto High School boys’ track and field team lost to Mountain View High School on Mar. 28 by a score of 71-56.

Throwers Tory Prati (‘12), Kevin Anderson (‘11) and Chris Bisbee (’12) swept the shot put, scoring five, three and one points respectively with throws of 43 feet, 40 feet one inch and 39 feet 10 inches. Prati also got second in discus with a throw of 107 feet nine inches.

Paly lost points on the relay teams, where only the team that wins scores points. The Vikings lost the 4×100 meter relay and did not have a team competing in the 4×400.

In the individual 400 meter sprint, EJ Floreal (‘13) won with a time of 51.27 seconds, scoring five points for Paly. Tremaine Kirkman (‘12) and Brian Benton (‘12) placed second and third respectively in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes.

Victor Du (‘13) won the high jump at six feet, and placed second in both the long and triple jumps at 20 feet one inch and 39 feet six inches respectively. Du’s 11 points were the highest of anyone on the team.

Grant Sauer (‘11) won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.57 seconds, and placed second in the 300 meter hurdles at 45.49 seconds.

In the 800 meters, Kevin Lavelle (‘13) placed third with a time of 2:09.98. Marcus Brown (‘14) placed second in the mile with a time of 4:44.7 and Matan Geller (‘13) placed third in the two mile, running a 10:42.23.

The meet was originally planned for Thursday the 24th, but was rescheduled due to rain and wind at the Mountain View track. Because of this, the Vikings will have three meets this week.

Their next meet is March 31 at Palo Alto against Lynnbrook. Some members of the team will participate at an invitational meet at Saint Francis High School on April 2.
