Paly Baseball won its first game of league playoffs against Los Altos; the first game of a three game series.

The Vikings used a solid inning-by-inning offense and stellar pitching by Justin Hull (‘16) to absolutely dominates the Eagles in the crucial Game 1.

Paly offense got on the board early, scoring a run on a bloop single by Owen Plambeck (‘16) to plate Riley Schoeben (‘16).

Again the Vikings plated three more runs in the bottom half of the second on a barrage of singles by Alec Olmstead (‘16), Laurence Han (‘16), Ben Cleasby (‘17) and Schoeben.

Meanwhile Paly’s pitcher, Hull, was picking apart the Los Altos offense. Through three innings he had allowed just two base runners and had struck out four.

Paly was able to wrap up the game rather early with a third inning rally that just about put the game away. The Vikings plated five runs on five hits and two walks. Two of those hits came on beautiful bunts from Schoeben and Max Jung-Goldberg (‘18). These runs made the score 9-0.

The Vikings easily closed out the win and left the score at 9-0. Hull finished with a line of 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R and 6 K.

“Playoffs are always fun,” Hull said after the game. “Just try to attack the hitter. I think we were all pretty ready, pretty pumped up about this game. Playoffs obviously. Little more high stakes. I think we were just confident going in and we got after them early and kind of cruised on from there.”

“[I’m feeling] pretty good,” Plambeck said. “Second game in a row where I’ve gotten three hits. Feeling good up there. It’s fun to hit right now. Lights out pitching first and foremost from Justin. We just showed up the entire day, and then our offense did what it needed to do. We got shut out by that guy last time we faced him in the regular season so it was good to make an adjustment and then light him up today. Got them again on Thursday. We have to put them away with a sweep.”

The Vikings will look to complete the sweep on Thursday at Los Altos at 4.
