Paly Varsity Softball finished off the 22-23 season with a 4-15-1 record. Although this might not have been the outcome many players were looking for, the team never dropped in spirit.

“Overall I think we had several ups and downs throughout the season,” junior Anabelen Yanez said. “Despite this, I think we’re ready to put in work during the offseason to prepare us for a great season next year.”

Junior Hana Foster also makes note of the unexpected loss of some crucial players at the start of the season.

“We had a lot of trouble figuring out our team configuration after a few girls had to leave the team early,” Foster said. “Most girls who left were important components of the team, so our rough season is partially attributed to that.”

Despite the overall record, the team had some very impressive successes. For example the girls won both their games against Lynbrook High School and El Camino High School, winning with scores as high as 12-3.

Unfortunately the girls’ lost their senior night against Gunn but Foster remains hopeful for the team’s future.

“I have high hopes we can become a stronger team next year since there are incoming freshmen who will be an extremely helpful addition to the team,” Foster said. “I don’t think this season was a reflection of our efforts and I’m excited to see what’s in store for our future.”
