Strong Pitching Propels PALY Past Saratoga 1-0

Hayley Levine, Staff Writer

The Vikings struggled from the plate with only five hits in their 1-0 win over Saratoga. Luckily, senior Ryan Chang’s (’17) stellar pitching kept Saratoga off the board.

Of the team’s five hits, only Ethan Stern (’17) had more than one hit. Stern’s first hit in the bottom of the first inning made the difference as his grounder scored a run on an error by the Falcon’s third-base men.

On the mound, Chang was able to go seven innings, only giving up three hits and no earned runs. He also had six strike outs and held the Saratoga hitters to a .125 batting average.

The win improves the Vikings record to 5-0 in league play. It also keeps them atop the standings with second place Los Gatos two games behind them.
