Paly boys volleyball played Saratoga at home on Wednesday night. They lost with close scores, the final score being 3-1.

“It was a good game and we could have won,” Currier said.

By the fourth set, Paly won one set, and Saratoga won two, leaving the last set to determine the winner. Paly came close to winning the fourth set, but lost 24-21, making Saratoga the final winner.

The team explains their disappointment in the lack of focus and energy they had towards the end.

“It was a close game for most of the time, but we lost focus towards the end of the sets,” junior Cal Currier said.

This is a recurring issue for the team, and they hope to be able to fix this by their next game.

“We dug super well and hitting was on point, but our blocking was really lacking and that hurt us in the end,” senior Calvin Wong said. “We have always struggled closing out sets. I don’t know what it is, whether it is a mental game or we aren’t making the right plays, but we definitely need to figure that out before the next game.”

However, with being down a few of the team’s good players, they are proud of what they were able to accomplish.

“I think we played really well considering we were down some players,” Wong said.

The team’s next game will be against Los Gatos this Wednesday.
