Girls soccer defeats Los Altos 3-1

The Paly girls’ soccer team defeated the Los Altos Eagles 3-1 today at home.

The first half started off strong for the Vikings as they started off with kick off then headed straight to their attacking end of the field.

The Vikings had their first attempt at goal after Heidi Moser (‘16) took a shot, but it was saved by the Eagles’ goalie.

The majority of the half was spent in the Eagles defensive half, however the Vikings had many missed attempts on goals off of corner kicks and other opportunities.

The Vikings’ first goal of the game was scored by Alison Lu (‘16) with twelve minutes remaining in the half.

The rest of the half consisted of three saves for Paly by goalie Dhara Yu (‘17) and a goal by Moser.

The Vikings ended the half 1-0.

The Vikings started off strong in the second half with a goal made my Jacey Pederson (‘16) with thirty minutes remaining.

The Eagles responded with a goal right after making the score 2-1 Vikings with twenty-six minutes left.

The remainder of the half was spent again in the Eagles defensive end with numerous shots taken by the Vikings.

The Vikings ended the game with a final goal made by Priscilla Bell (‘15) making the final score of the game 3-1 Paly.

Talia Malchin (‘17) was pleased with the level of play that the team displayed.

“I think we did well we have had games in the past where we have not been able to connect as many passes but I think that we did pretty well with that today which was good,” Malchin said.

Pederson echoed her teammate as she too was pleased with the teams performance.

“I think we came out really strong and we did a really good job of keeping up the intensity even after we scored so that was good,” Pederson said.

The Vikings will play their next game Tuesday.
