The Palo Alto varsity boys soccer team was held to a 0-0 tie against Homestead on Friday night in a crucial conference matchup.
The Vikings controlled the game from start to finish, racking up 17 shots on goal, while Homestead managed just one. But no matter how many times Palo Alto tested the defense, they just couldn’t convert.
“We should have won by a lot, but we weren’t clinical enough inside the box,” junior Cole Baker said.
With a CCS playoff spot on the line, the Vikings pushed forward, keeping Homestead on their heels. But credit to the visitors—they stayed organized and held their ground.
“I think both teams played well. Our offense dominated the game and took over 17 shots throughout it, but Homestead’s defense was good enough to where we couldn’t score a single one,” junior James Park said. “It was a must-win game for us because at that point we were trying to secure a CCS spot.”
Despite the result, goalkeeper Jacob Kinsky was recognized as the Player of the Match for his efforts in keeping a clean sheet.
The Vikings will look to bounce back in their next match as they continue their push for a CCS playoff spot.
