The Vikings blew the Sacred Heart Gators out of the water with a 5-1 defeat.

The Sacred Heart gators and our Paly Vikings went head-to-head in a game in Monday.

The Gators came out strong and scored the first goal of the first half leaving the score 1-0.

The Lady Vikes soon returned the favor with Nika Woodfill (‘16) bring the score up to 1-1.

The entire first half was neck-and-neck. Both teams played well with very few shot on goal from either side. At halftime, the score was 1-1.

It must have been one great pep-talk because in the second half, the vikings blew the gators out of the water. Within moments of the second half starting, Heidi Moeser (‘16) came back confident, scoring our second goal of the night leaving the score 2-1.

The Gators tried to gain it back but Woodfill came back stronger than ever, earning Paly our third goal and the score 3-1.

“I think what really helped us this game was our teamwork and communication,” Ally Scheve (‘18) said. “We’ve been working really hard during practices on talking to each other and making sure everyone knows what is going on.”

Isabella Bonomi (‘18) helped Paly score our fourth goal of the night, giving the Lady Vikes a three-point lead and the score 4-1.

“At the beginning of the game, it looked like this game was going to be a lot closer than it turned out to be,” Scheve said. “We worked really hard to make sure we kept up with them, and it paid off!”

The last goal of the night was scored by Caroline Furrier (‘19) towards the end of the second half, Leaving the final score of the night 5-1, and yet another victory for The Vikings.

The game leaves the Vikings 8-1-1 in league and 14-1-1 overall.

The Lady Vikes next game is away, Wed. February 10th against Saratoga at 3:30.
