The girls’ soccer team crushed Santa Clara High School, 6-0, last night at Palo Alto High School.

With the win the LadyVikes are now 12-0-4 overall and and 6-0-4 in league. They are at the top of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League standings, ahead of rival Mountain View and Los Gatos, and according to MaxPreps the team is currently ranked as the thirteenth best team in California as well as the thirty-third nationally.

The team was in total control as they put up three goals in the first half and piled on three more goals in the second. Freshman Chloe Japic had a hat trick in the winning effort, Talia Malchin (‘17) added two more goals, and Sofie Vogel (‘20) also scored a goal.

“I was at the right spot at the right time and I was able to put it away,” Japic said. I started playing higher up the field instead of dropping back and that definitely opened up things in the mid field and we were able to connect better. There was a lot more space and that definitely helped.”

They look to continue their dominance this season as they are back at it against league foe Los Gatos on Thursday, February 9 at Los Gatos High School.
