The Paly Girls basketball team demolished the Wilcox chargers tonight at home with a final score of 46-27. Senior guard Carly Leong (‘18) helped lead the team to this crucial victory.

“Basically this game was really important because Wilcox is our hardest competition in the way of the league title,” said Leong, “We really set up our place in league tonight.”

The girls went hard from the start, gaining a strong lead. At the end of the half, the Vikes were up 28-14.

Although, the win didn’t come easily. The team really stepped up certain aspects of their game.

“I thought we did really well on defense, we kept them down by 14 for the first half,” said Leong.

Last time the Vikes played Wilcox, it was a close match. They only took the lead by seven points even though it was an away game.

“It is always harder to play away games, so it was nice to be at home with our crowd and our fans,” said Esme Stotland (‘19).

They fully utilized the home court advantage tonight, they now look forward to senior night next Friday where they hope to snatch another win against their “biggest rivals,” Los Gatos.
