Paly varsity boys basketball fell short to Saratoga High School with a final score of 53-35 on Friday night at Paly.

Coming off of a decisive 47-31 victory over Los Altos on Wednesday night, the Vikings aimed to triumph over the current 4th place team, Saratoga. However, the team struggled offensively and defensively throughout the whole game, leading to Saratoga pulling off an upset victory.

“Overall we played really bad,” Mert Yanar (‘23) said. “They played harder than us the whole game, and it ended up being our worst loss of the year.”

The Vikings had trouble running their offense for the entirety of the game, especially in the fourth quarter, where they were held to just four points. In the last matchup between these two teams, Paly was able to edge a close victory with a score of 50-44.

However, Friday’s match proved to be a different story with the Vikings having difficulty on both sides of the court. Saratoga was able to score easily in transition, leading to success offensively for the team.

“They played harder than us the whole game, and it ended up being our worst loss of the year,” Yanar said.

The Vikings look to bounce back from the tough loss this Tuesday where they will face off against Mountain View High School. In their last matchup, the Vikings had an explosive fourth quarter which led to a victory and a final score of 55-47. Overall, the Vikings look to close out their season on a high note with a victory against Mountain View.
