This past weekend the Palo Alto High School wrestling team won the Weber Lawson Memorial Tournament at Fremont High School.

Senior captains Nick Ortiz (‘12) and Kalen Gans (‘12) both placed first and Joey Christopherson (‘12) placed fourth, in their weight groups to help the Vikings win the preseason tournament.  Jordan Smith (‘13) and Jordan Gans (‘14) placed second and Ryan Oshima (‘12) placed third in their respective weight classes.

Although the Vikings were missing Varsity wrestlers Andrew Frick (‘14), Erik Anderson (‘13), Trenton Marshall (‘13) and Christian Lonsky (‘12) the Vikings fought through and still pulled out with a tournament victory.

“We did really well,” Christopherson said. “ We worked hard and we wrestled well.”

As a captain Christopherson looks forward to an overall team improvement as the season continues.

“I hope we continue to wrestle better [as the season continues],” Chrisopherson said.
