The Paly volleyball team added another accolade to its near-perfect season on Friday when it finished first in voting for the MaxPreps national female team of the year.
The Lady Vikes beat out four other finalists to win the award, which is decided upon by the public as well as a group of judges.
The team finished the season 41-1, capped off by a CIF state championship over No. 11-ranked Long Beach Poly on December 4.
On the way, Paly rolled to a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League, Central Coast Section, and Northern California championship to qualify for the state match.
Head coach Dave Winn also won MaxPreps California Coach of the Year, while Melanie Wade (’12) and Megan Coleman(’11) earned all-state honors.
The Lady Vikes will lose only two seniors, Coleman and Trina Ohms, to graduation.
