October 12, 2014
The Vikings’ varsity volleyball team lost against the Homestead Mustangs on Tuesday night in its sixth game of the season.
The Vikings had a rough start to the match but improved as Anna Dukovic (‘15) lead the team in spikes; however, they were unable to pull out a win from the first game with a score of 25-13.
In the second set of the game, the Mustangs barely took the win 25-21. Dukovic helped the team yet again with five spikes. Jade Schoenberger (‘15) also helped the team on offense with a total of 10 kills. Hayley Poore (‘15) had nine digs and was a crucial part of the Vikings’ defense.
“We started very weak but as the game went on we got more into it and came up stronger,” Kabria Dame (‘15) said.
Homestead took the third set 25-19 to win the match. Katie Passarello (‘17) was a crucial hitter during this game with more than three kills.
“We had good moments, we just let them have too many runs,” Schoenberger said. “We made a lot of stupid errors but hopefully we will clean that before our next game.”
The Vikings still have some work to do in practice before next week’s game against Mountain View.
“We will be working on blocking and serve receive,” Dame said.
The Vikings play the Mountain View Spartans on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Paly.
