Volleyball defeats Mountain View 3-0
September 21, 2016
Fiona Green (‘17) stood out in the first set by helping the Vikings win 25-17. Green made multiple kills, tips and even blocks that Mountain View could not pick up. After a while of back and forth, Green was able to make the kill to score the 15th point. She also made the set point by tipping the ball to the center of the court in no-man’s land.
In the beginning of the second set, Chelsea Fan (‘18) tipped the ball over Mountain View’s block twice in a row to give Paly a three point lead. Siena Brewster (‘19) was rotated in and made two kills and a block making the score 9-3. Susana Limb (‘18) dove off the court twice in one point to save the ball, however the Vikings were not able to secure the point. Didi Ringwalt (‘18) was able to make two kills in a row, however Mountain View fought back and tied up the score 22-22 resulting in a timeout called by Paly. Each team fought hard for the second set win; however Brewster blocked Mountain Views hit finalizing the score at 32-30.
Fan commented on her team’s performance in the extended points of the second set.
“We had made a couple unforced errors towards the end and personally I knew we could play better than what we had shown so all we had to do was refocus and finish the game,” Fan said.
The third set was tough for Mountain View because they were out of rotation twice, giving Paly two free points – one being the match point. The Vikings came back from the hard second set with two serving aces from Limb and one from Maddy McNee (‘18). Because Mountain View had the wrong server in their rotation, Paly didn’t have to play the final game point making the score 25-13.
Green spoke about her how her team played throughout the game.
“We were pretty lucky that we played an opponent who played worse than we did; but we still won, so that’s all that matters,” Green said.
The Vikings will play at home again on Thursday against Los Altos at 6:45pm.
