Girls Tennis was narrowly defeated by Cupertino 4-3, despite a hard fought performance from Avanika Narayan (‘17).  After an undefeated start in league play, and an overall record of 10-2, the team was unable to keep their win streak alive.

It should be noted, however, that Cupertino is from the league above Paly and had an 8-2 record going into this matchup.

With expectations low for the match, Paly fared very well in the doubles arena.  Duo Brinson Elliot (‘17) and Mayerly Short (‘17), as well as, Alice Zhang (‘17) and her partner Emma Cockerell (‘18), won their matches.  The third Paly win came from senior Narayan, who overcame a frustrating second set.

“We played sensational. If you had asked me at the beginning would we have a 3-4 match against them I would have said I don’t think so”, said Head Coach Andy Harader, “But the girls played really well, I’m really happy particularly with Avanika, rising above her temper tantrum and coming out of it and winning it.”

The team looks to bounce back next week against Los Altos.
