Girls Tennis Beats Aragon 6-1 at Home

In their first game of the season, the girl’s varsity tennis team won against Aragon high school with a score of 6-1 at home.

Before the game, Coach Harsder explained some of the strategy going into the competition.

“We are pushing doubles because we only have two ranked singles players [when] some of these other teams have four or five,” said Coach Harader.

Sweeping through the matches with this certainly worked for the team, helping them win all three of the doubles games played.

And, despite having only two ranked single players, the Vikings also won three out of the four single matches against Aragon.

In the first single game, Lady Vike Erin Li faced off against Varsha Jawadi. Although struggling with a couple serves over the three-set match, Li pulled through with a win.

Harader is excited to see the team starting the season off on such a strong note especially after loosing such a strong senior class last year. He foresees strong training and a steady win streak, especially as the team becomes more comfortable with playing others, and becoming more consistent during longer matches.

“What I see this year that I didn’t see last year was a lot more commitment to the team,” Harader said.

And, he hopes, it is this commitment that will bring the Viking tennis team victory and success this fall. Sko Vikes!
