In their first game of the season, the Paly football team beat Fremont Friday night 28-10 in a home game.
The Vikings took the lead in the first half, 28-3, and held the lead for the rest of the game. The team planned to counter Fremont’s strategy and played accordingly. Senior Jason Auzenne scored two touchdowns in Friday’s game.
“We knew that they were coming out with heavy runs. So our goal was to shut down the runs, and it worked well,” Ikinasio Tupou (‘24) said.
Despite the win, Coach Degeronimo saw many areas where the team could improve.
“I see the efforts here. There’s no doubt about that. It’s just the execution; we stopped executing and kind of let them back in,” Coach Degeronimo said.
The team plans to review the film and improve their mistakes in the upcoming practices.
“I would say our line probably would need the most work since we lost a lot of seniors. But they’re trying. They’re trying to give it their all in practice. We’re all going to 100%. We’re trying to make each other better,” Jason Auzenne (‘24) said.
The Paly football team started their season strong and hopes they will accomplish their goals this season.
“My goal is to get back to playoffs. Maybe win like we did last year, but I mean, we’re just enjoying our last year here,” Tupou said.
