The Paly girl’s volleyball team defeated Mercy Burlingame at home, winning with a reverse sweep.
A reverse sweep in volleyball is where a team loses the first two sets but then wins the next three to secure the win. It is a huge comeback and this is exactly what the girls did!
“At first there was no energy on the court and everything felt kinda dead so we lost the first two sets,” Naama Green (’25) said. “When the third set came along, we knew it was our last chance to make an effort to win so we really came together as a team and played with a lot more energy.”
In the third set, the team managed to step it up to create the momentum that would change the game.
“We won the third set and went on to win the next two! Reverse Sweep!!! I think it was all because we pumped up the energy and started trusting each other more,” Green said.
It was a great start to their season, after their previous success the weekend before at the Spikefest tournament where they only lost one game and won their bracket.
The team is having a strong season so far. Come out to support them at their next game at Homestead this Thursday!
