Paly football suffered a hard-fought loss in their homecoming game to Menlo 14-0.
Despite both teams being yards away from the endzone, neither was able to score a touchdown for the first three quarters of the game. However, this changed during the fourth quarter.
“I think we just got caught with our eyes in the wrong place. We weren’t positioned well, they have a fast-moving offense and we weren’t ready,” Junior Joseph Kessler said.
The Menlo team scored two touchdowns in the last quarter of the game.
Despite losing, Coach Malcolm Davis was proud of the team’s ability to hold Menlo’s offense.
“We can’t ask for much more from defense … That’s the team that scores 30 to 40 points a game so to hold them to 14 … We’re pretty proud of that,” Coach Davis said.
To prepare for their upcoming game against Half Moon Bay this Friday, the team is working on their communication and team chemistry.
“We have to come together as a team and build better chemistry because right now we’re a little bit divided. And I think we need a little break to regroup. Come next week, I think we’ll be together again,” said Kessler.
