After a neck-to-neck game, Paly football beat King’s Academy 34-28, making it into playoffs.
Both teams started the game with an incredible offense, with Paly getting the first touchdown and King’s Academy quickly following it up with their own touchdown.
“They came out with something that we hadn’t seen before,” Head Coach David DeGeronimo said. “They had that run, and they scored quick, and then they took the lead.”
Paly was able to tie the game up at halftime with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Jason Auzenne (’24). Then Joseph Kessler (’25) scored a 74-yard touchdown run to tie the game up at 21-21 in the 4th quarter. Paly then finished the game off with a 40-yard touchdown run from Kessler.
Despite some penalties, DeGeronimo was extremely impressed by his team’s performance tonight.
“Guys are out of position because we are banged up on the line, and they’re stepping up and just playing hard. I can name all 36 of them that contributed to [the win],” DeGeronimo said.
With that win, Paly is practicing even harder for their upcoming playoff game against Seaside this Friday, November 10th, at home.
