Coming off a tough 7-6 overall record last season, the Paly girls tennis team came into this year with tons of excitement.
“We actually have a better team this year… we’ve got four new freshmen and they’ve got real potential,” Coach Andy Harader said at the beginning of the season.
Despite the excitement, the girls tennis team fell short of their previous season’s record. Finishing with 9 wins and 11 losses.
The team faced the challenge of playing in the toughest division of CCS, with some of the best teams and players in the state, but still managed to hold their own.
As coach Andy Harader said in the beginning of the season, a .500 record or anywhere near one is a win for the team.
“I thought the season went all right. I’d say it could’ve been better, but I think we did pretty well considering our league is really good.” Junior Audrey Horn said. “We had a lot of tough matches, but the experience was great overall.”
Also the team created great chemistry over the season which creates a great foundation for the team to build off of for the next season.
“I think this season went great! Our team bonded and practiced very well together, and we were able to win some matches that we initially thought we might lose.” Said senior captain Erin Li.
Overall, the girls tennis team played really well this season in regard to the competition they faced. And the team has a great core to build off of for the next season.
