The Paly field hockey team is back to training and getting ready for the upcoming season. As a result of last season, the team has moved up to new league, the De Anza League.
Junior Charlotte Barclay is starting her second year on the Varsity field hockey team and is anticipating higher levels of competition.
“This year we are in a higher league so our team is anticipating more challenging matchups,” Barclay said. “We’ve lost a lot of valuable seniors from last year so we are working on filling those gaps and building off of last years successful season. Overall i’m looking forward to bonding with my new teammates and getting to know our new head coach.”
Along with transitioning to a new league, the team has also gained a new head coach, Clare Doyle. Doyle has not only focused pre-season training on getting the athletes in peak physical shape, but also in aims to maintain a positive and confident mindset going into more challenging games this season.
“As long as we go in with confidence, are working hard, and not scared of the competition we will be good,” junior Sarah Thieman said.
The Varsity team has been putting in long hours of training and conditioning in hopes to play hard and learn from mistakes.
“I know that with the hard work our team is putting into each practice we are going to make big steps towards success,” senior Polina Vanhulsen said.
