Paly Girls Waterpolo handily defeated Mountain View 17-2 on Thursday, continuing their undefeated record for the season.
This time, the team was able to start off strong from the very beginning and keep it up throughout the game. The Vikings immediately took control over Mountain View in the first half, scoring 5 goals in both the first and second quarters. On the defensive side, Paly succeeded in shutting out Mountain View, leaving the score 10-0 at halftime.
“We were coming off a strong game against Harper and had really high energy from the very beginning,” junior Maeva Herbert-Paz said.
The team succeeded on maintaining active game awareness, making great assists and passes when they saw open drives and shots. Despite missing key players to injury, teamwork and energy remained high, riding on the motivation to maintain their impressive winning record.
“We started out strong and kept that energy the whole time,” sophomore Sabrina Meyers said. “The teamwork in every offense and defense was really fun to watch.”
Despite a strong, consistent offense, one challenge was communication on defense, something the team has been working on, which is especially important against teams with one to two strong players.
Paly will face Los Gatos on September 24 in their next league match.
