The Paly football team had nothing short of a rollercoaster season, finishing out the year with an even record of six wins and six losses.
They started the season off strong, with four wins and only one loss in non-league play.
However, the Vikings were unable to continue this level of play, dropping four out of five league games.
“We moved up a division this year, so we knew that this season was going to be tough,” sophomore wide receiver Clement Romanski said.
In addition to moving up a division, the Vikings faced tough injuries to star players, making an end of the season push significantly harder.
“I know if we had a healthy team, we could have been much stronger,” Romanski said.
The team landed a spot in the CCS playoffs, where despite being short-staffed, the Vikings won their first game 33-24 against Half Moon Bay.
However, this game did not translate into the next game, where the Vikings took a 49-35 loss to Aptos, ending their season the Friday before Thanksgiving.
“The playoffs did not go how we wanted them to, but we played hard and will be back next year,” Romanski said.
The Vikings graduated sixteen seniors this year, so there will be many open roles for younger players to fill next season at various positions.
The team looks to bounce back next year, and make an even further run in the playoffs.
