The girls golf team concluded last season by finishing sixth at the CCS playoff tournament missing the cut to go to states. A tough loss after dominating their league for the majority of the season. This year the golf team hopes to raise the bar and make it all the way. Last year they finished second in the league tournament behind Lynbrook and this year they are aiming for first.
“I’m looking forward to the season this year, especially since its my last year playing high school golf with all my teammates. I haven’t thought much about team goals or anything but I think the important part is just to do our best and try to have some fun while we’re out there,” Angelina Chen said.
The team is excited for this upcoming season as new players and committed returning members are eager to crush the competition.
“It’s going great. The team is very welcoming and I look forward to playing with them. I’m excited for a fun and successful season,” freshman Emma Wang said.
After losing 3 starting lineup seniors, the team hopes to stay strong and make a comeback. With Los Altos being the one match they lost against last season, they were this year’s team to beat. Fortunately, the Paly girls killed it in their match last week winning 207 to 223 strokes on their hardest course.
“I think it’s going to be a great season. Our coach is thrilled about the team this year and wants us to succeed while also having fun. I can’t wait to see how we do,” Senior Alexa Pineda said.
