- Palo Alto High School varsity girl’s tennis team started off their season with a loss to Aragon this Tuesday in a scrimmage.
- Sammy Solomon (’13) and Felicia Wang (’12) won their matches 7-5, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-3 respectively. Doubles partners Julianne Le ( ’14) and Tiffany Nguyen (’13) also had a strong showing winning their match 6-3, 6-2.
Despite strong showings from both Solomon and Wang, the team lost with an overall score of 3-4.
The team graduated nine seniors last year and have only four returning to the squad. Despite the lack of experience, Solomon believes that this years team has potential.
“I think that our team has a lot of potential for the rest of the season,” Solomon said. “The underclassman are really stepping it up this year which is great!”
The team hopes to improve off of last years impressive 11-8 league record. They also hope to avenge a loss to Menlo in the CCS quarterfinals last year.
The Lady Vikes’ will take part in an invitational tournament this weekend on the Paly tennis courts.
