The Paly boys and girls water polo teams won their games handily despite both being relocated to away sites due to pool closure.

The girls faced Homestead High School and came away with a winning score of 16-1. Originally it was supposed to be a home game, but they were alerted last minute that the Paly pool was closed as a result of a fecal incident earlier in the day.

Even with this, the team was able to adapt and play their best despite this disruption.

“It definitely came as a surprise that our pool was no longer usable, but we are grateful to Homestead for setting up so quickly and we were still able to have some great games,” junior Grace Gormley said.

The girls and the boys team both felt like they could use this match-up as a confidence booster and a way to focus on skills they can implement against more challenging teams.

“It was a fun game. We got to explore a lot of different plays we don’t usually use in games,” junior Trey Collins said.

Both teams have had a great start to the season, and continue working hard.

“Our hard work is really paying off and we’ve made a lot of progress, so I’m excited to keep up this momentum through the rest of the season,” junior Brian Stewart said.
