Paly girls water polo played their second league game of the season Thursday afternoon against Los Gatos, a team that has had large amounts of success in the league in the past.
After an extremely tough-fought game, the Vikings pulled ahead in the end to win the game 8-7, holding off the Wildcats with outstanding performances.
“I’m super proud of how we played and the way we bounced back after a tough game on Tuesday, It was a huge win and our team can’t wait to make more moments like this throughout the season,” junior Katie Bradley said.
After an early lead from the Vikings, Los Gatos took 3 goals back uncontested in the 3rd quarter. However, in the final quarter the whole team rallied together, and claimed their win.
“It was a super fun game and I think we’ve been wanting to beat them for forever so it made it that much better when we all pulled together for that win,” senior Anne Threlkeld said.
This was a historical game for the Vikings as they took down one of the top contenders in their section, implying good things to come for the team. The Los Gatos Wildcats have boasted an impressive program, as they have won the league several years in a row.
“Beating Gatos has been a goal of mine since I was a freshman so to finally do that my senior year is so rewarding, hopefully we have the strength and finesse to pull off winning our league this year,” Senior Mary Henderson said.
The Vikings boasted an impressive win to end match week one of the league season, displaying a promising future for this team.
