The Palo Alto Varsity golf team beat Cupertino, 198-217, at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course today. This match was the second Vikings’ victory of the week, after having previously defeated Los Altos.
Sam Niethammer (’13) shot Palo Alto’s lowest score with a 38.
“Today was one of our off days as a team,” Niethammer said. “198 is our worst score of the season so far but we still managed [to get] a victory.”
The Vikings were without number two golfer Alex Hwang (’15 ), but still came out with the win.
“We were without Alex Hwang today but it didn’t seem to affect us that much,” Niethammer said.
The Vikings are currently undefeated, having won their first seven league matches of the season. Niethammer attributes this to the addition of freshmen Alex Hwang and John Knowles, as well as the team’s off season improvement, and believes success will keep coming.
“We are 7-0 and looking for more wins” Neithammer said.
Palo Alto will face Gunn on March 23 at Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course.
