The Paly girls’ softball team lost to Burlingame 12-2 on Monday, Apr. 30.
Paly started the game off strong with Julia Saul (’14) pitching and held a shutout into the second inning. During the second inning, after seven runs were scored on Saul, Casey Glassford (’15) took the mound. Two runs and three outs later, the Lady Vikes were up to bat again.
With Hannah Bundy (’14) on base for Paly, Anna Rizza (’13) knocked her in for Paly’s first run of the game. During the top of the fifth Saul took the mound again. Later in the bottom half of the fifth, with Glassford on base, Caitlin Warmack-Tirador (’12) knocked Glassford in for the Vikes second run. Paly finished the game at a 12-2 loss.
Though Paly was able to score some runs, Glassford still feels there are certain things the team could improve on.
“As a team, we definitely could have been more aggressive at the plate,” Glassford said. “We can’t let the other team get in our heads the way we let Burlingame get in our heads. We just need to play the game we know how to play, regardless of who [the opponent is].”
The Lady Vikes face Burlingame again on Thursday May 3 at 4:00 at Burlingame.
