The Vikings could just not keep up with the scoring of the Mills Vikings (14-3) on Wednesday at Paly, bringing their record up to 14-7.

Paly jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning on a base hit by catcher Maddie Martinson (โ€™16), who was named the player of the game as she picked up three hits and a walk while driving in two runs and scoring one of her own.

After being held scoreless in the first two innings, Mills took a lead of their own in the third inning. Mills opened their scoring with a two-run double, and then added three more runs on two run scoring singles and a run scoring groundout to give them a 5-1 lead.

Mills struck once again in the fifth inning, adding six more runs to stretch their lead to 11-1.

Down 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Vikings never gave up. They put together a two-out rally that saw six consecutive Vikings reach base in the three-run inning. Center- fielder and leadoff hitter Kabria Dame (โ€™15) started the rally off with a double and later scored. She also walked twice and made several plays in the field to help the team.

With a run in the sixth and three more in the seventh, Mills took a 15-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth. Paly was able to push across three more runs, but could not close the gap as they lost 15-7.

Ushana Vivek (โ€™18) and Elizabeth Schnaubelt (โ€™18) each took the mound for the first time this season.

Palo Alto will have their next game on Friday as they take on Monta Vista (17-6) at 4:00 p.m. at Paly.
