Paly boys swimming beat Cupertino and Harker in a double dual meet yesterday. The Paly-Harker score was 245-73, and the Paly-Cupertino score was 221-117.
The meet was rainy and windy, leading to longer breaks between races and tents being blown off the ground.
“It started out a little shaky,” senior Will Rowell said. “The weather was really brutal. And it created some obstacles for us to clear but we definitely pushed through it.”
The boys were able to earn a commanding victory over their competitors.
“Once we realized what we needed to do, we came together and did what we needed to do and then got it done,” Rowell said. “We had a long week of practice too.”
So far, all four Paly swim and dive teams (boys and girls, varsity and JV) are undefeated, and they enter their league competitions next week, with an away meet against Homestead on Wednesday. Homestead is a strong competitor, so the Vikings will have to bring their A-game to the meet. Rowell, however, feels good about how the boys team is shaping up this year.
“We’re working through the program and we’re starting to see decent results and we’re looking forward to the rest of the season,” he said.
