Coming off a good year, and finishing the season as 3rd in the De Anza League, Paly baseball is positioned to have another successful season.
With the team having lost 10 seniors just this past year, which includes Stanford Freshman Charlie Bates. The start of this new season will be a learning curve, forcing younger guys to step up. Pitcher Henry Harding (‘25), a Holy Cross commit, will be sidelined this year with an ACL injury, a huge blow to the pitching staff. Kanghee Cho (‘25), a Brown University commit, will also be sidelined with a torn labrum in the hip. Andrew Kassel (‘25), also will be sidelined with an injury.
This year, the team is made up of a lot of underclassmen all around the diamond. However, veteran juniors, like Carter Bader (‘26) and Greg Lee (‘26), are looking to build upon strong 2025 campaigns.
“As a team, our expectations are to be competitive in every single game we play this year,” Lee said. “Personally, I’m trying to do everything to help the team win.”
Although the team has been hit with key injuries, expectations are still high for the program, and this season also hope to build a strong foundation for years to come. Such success will not come easily, as the Vikings will compete against many strong opponents, such as games vs St. Ignatius, St. Francis, Archbishop Mitty, and of course, Los Gatos. Catcher Carter Bader (‘26) is looking forward to this season.
“I feel like we have a really good chance to do well this year,” Bader said. “But we need our entire team to buy in and compete on every pitch.”
Although Paly has a different look on the diamond this year, expectations remain high and the Vikings look to sustain success from previous years.
