Last year, the Paly boys Golf team had an exceptionally successful season, finishing with an overall record of 11-1-1. The talent filled team narrowly missed the Norcal championships, despite having a strong showing at CCS.

This year, the team aims to repeat as SCVAL league champions, and will aim to win CCS. They look to build on what they accomplished last season, even with the loss of two key seniors.

“They were both top five players and their scores were consistently used,” Julian Galindo (‘23) said.

The roster believes they can accomplish anything if their whole unit is playing well.

“We want to play at our fullest potential,” Galindo said. “If so, we will make it far into the playoffs.”

Golf can be tough at times because the game is so heavily based on staying calm and confident mentally. Galindo believes if he works on his mental game he can consistently be a key score during matches.

Chase Kacher (‘24) looks to be a massive addition for the team after transferring to Paly for his junior year, and believes he can help the group win as much as possible.

“I’m looking to bring an extra piece to the puzzle, meaning bringing in some low scores,” Kacher said.

One of Kacher’s goals for this season is to finish first individually in a league-wide tournament.

The team kicked off their preseason with a couple of victories in scrimmages, including a win against Valley Christian. Their first matches are on February 28 against Los Altos, and a tournament on March 1.

“[The scrimmages] were a great experience for the incoming players and kickstarted our season on a positive note,” Galindo said.
